  • When I first walked up, I didn’t know what to expect. Once I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised and the decor and atmosphere. The food was hot, and tasted divine for reasonable prices. Wing provided me and my son great conversation. It was my son’s birthday, and he said it was the perfect place for us to eat. I will definitely be returning.

  • Bold flavors, friendly faces, and more than enough food to go around. Wah Gwan is a hidden gem, offering authentic Jamaican and African flavors in HUGE portions. The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, even if the neighboring area is a bit bleak. I ordered the coconut shrimp curry with jollof rice and steamed cabbage. Everything was cooked to perfection and packed deep, bold flavors. The jollof rice was addictive to say the least - and the texture was perfect. My friend had a beef pattie and also allowed me a bite. The crust was buttery and flaky, and the filling was ample and flavorful. Overall not a bad bite was to be had at Wah Gwan and we will definitely be back to try more of their African dishes like egusi soup and fufu.

  • I brought my son and daughter in law here Monday in hopes of trying to find a place to fill the void of G’s Jamaican Cuisine shutdown after the owners death This place was right there side by side with the taste and quality of the food!! The lady who I think was the owner made our visit extra special!!! We will definitely be coming back!! My son and I had the jerk chicken and his woman had the curry chicken!!! I definitely want to try the brown chicken stew!!!

  • You will definitely have second thoughts when you pull up to this restaurant. Why? Because it’s located within a string of shabby rundown looking store fronts. But look past the outside, and you will be glad you took a leap of faith. Wah Gwan’s eccentric decor is very relaxing and the music playing puts you in a good mood. The customer service is top notch, the waitress was super nice and engaging. I encourage everyone looking for a great Caribbean meal to come here. Jerk chicken- Comes with two pieces of tender well seasoned chicken, and a side of rice and cabbage. Completely satisfied with this entree. Oxtails- Nice serving size of oxtails that is seasoned really good. Oxtails could’ve been a little more tender for my liking. But still good enough to enjoy my meal. This entree also comes with choice of rice and cabbage

  • Absolutely phenomenal! The food is so so delicious, the vibes are immaculate, and the staff is so friendly (Ashley was an absolute joy). My husband is vegetarian, and the coconut curry peas was to die for. The inside is super cozy and comfortable. There's free parking behind the restaurant, tucked away off 63rd. We're absolutely going to come back the next time we're in Kansas City!

  • Ok so I have had my share of Nigerian dishes, I ordered plantain (4), side of Jollof, and Eugusi goat meat soup, and I enjoyed my meal. The rice is not made « party style » so there’s no corn, red onions. The eugusi is good I feel I just prefer mine with chicken as opposed to goat meat. The seating is laid out well , if you have a party of maybe 5 or more I recommend calling ahead for arrangements. The service was very welcoming, and the establishment is draped in culture in every aspect for a really authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend (4 out of 5 ⭐ stars)
